I’ve tried multiple DIY methods for making clear ice. I mangled multiple coolers and bought a couple of molds. But I ended up with nothing but frustration and very little clear ice. When Klaris came out with a smaller “affordable” clear ice maker I decided to give it a try. Yes it is slow, takes 6-8 hours to make two ice cubes, but the results are amazing. I’ve had it for about six months and I’ve been very happy. If you need ice for one or two people I can highly recommend. You’ll need some advance planning if you plan on hosting a party and need a lot of cubes, but if you just need clear ice several times a week the Klaris Mini is perfect.

I tried to pick a simple cocktail to show off the ice but the condensation on the glass ruined the effect. I’ve made this simple cocktail multiple times in the past, now I know it has a name.
